Himachal Pradesh Landslides News Updates, August 22, 2022: On Sunday, five more bodies were discovered in Himachal Pradesh, bringing the death toll from heavy rain to 27. Landslides and rolling boulders have also caused the closure of 96 roads. Work is being done around the clock to reopen the blocked routes. The heaviest rain fell on Saturday, killing 21 people. Three people were killed instantly after a house collapsed in a landslide in Chamba district early Saturday morning. The deceased’s family members were given Rs 30,000 as an immediate relief fund. In Shimla, another person was killed in a car accident.
In two distinct locations, three bodies were found, and at least five persons were listed as missing as Sunday’s rescue efforts, which had started on Saturday in response to widespread flooding and cloudbursts in multiple districts of Uttarakhand, continued. Two deaths were found in Gwad village in the Tehri Garhwal district, according to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and a third body was found in the Raipur neighbourhood of Dehradun.
Gujarat has received a three-day, until August 24, heavy rainfall warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). On August 22, heavy to very heavy rain was predicted in North Gujarat, along with heavy rainfall in the districts of Patan, Dahod, Mahisagar, Valsad, and Kutch, according to the IMD forecast. On August 23, heavy rain was predicted in Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Navsari, and Valsad. On Monday, Ahmedabad is likely to get one or two periods of light to moderate rain mixed with thundershowers. According to the weather bulletin, Kutch district is likely to have heavy rain on August 24 in certain remote locations.
